Description
Weir of Cedro is Located at Quixadá [link] - a city 195 Km far from mine.
It was constructed by order of D. Pedro II (the second and last Brazilian Emperor) due to the great social impact caused by a terrific dry season which renged from 1877 - 1879. Its construction took 25 years, and figures on slaves labour. Its capacity is 126 million cubic meter, and ranks as the 7th biggest water reservoir of Ceará.
This photo was taken from a building located at the end of the weir. All the details of the marvelous weir, were sculptured by slaves hands, and the metal fence was brought from Europe.
